The SIG was originally set up when Oracle announced the release of Oracle Version 7 as a platform for increasing awareness of the many new features of the Database Server. The name was changed from the Oracle7 SIG the the DBMS SIG with the announcement of Oracle Version 8 and continues with its objectives of promoting new features and sharing experiences of all version in use.
